THREE!

I'm not even sure how to start this post.  The post I have been dreaming of two years for.  The post and blessing I prayed and hoped and wished for.  Our family has been blessed and we are officially a family of THREE!

I hadn't planned mentally for baby boy to be here so soon!  Last Thursday at our appointment, our doctor said I hadn't really changed and was still at 2cm dilated and 50% effaced and my plug was still gone. He estimated that baby would be no bigger than 8 lbs at full term, but he could give us a better update the last two weeks of our pregnancy.

Friday I was truly blessed as my office threw me a surprise, Green Bay Packer themed, baby shower! My coworkers even dressed in green and yellow.  It was a fantastic day!

The weekend was really low key.  I can't even tell you what we did, so it wasn't anything spectacular. Saturday we went on a walk and I remember having a few contractions but I drank water and relaxed and they stopped.  Sunday I got my breast pump ready so I could make sure I knew how to use it whenever baby decided to make his arrival.

I woke up Monday morning around 7:30 to what felt like I had peed myself.  I went to go to the bathroom to try and pee and more "liquid" came out before I peed.  I knew something was up, but I wasn't having contractions and nothing felt different so I called my friend who just had a baby.  I told her I thought I was just going to go back to bed.  She told me to call hubs, so I did.  He said "did you call the hospital?!"  I said no, I hadn't.  I was planning to go back to sleep and see if there were any changes later.  He said I needed to call the hospital, so I did.  The hospital recommended I come in ASAP.  I called hubs back and he said he would come to get me--he took my car that day as I was planning on working from home and doing paperwork.  I knew he would be at least 30 minutes before he got home to get me, so I told him I was going to take a shower.

At that point, I was all adrenaline.  I was scared, nervous, and excited all at the same time.  I got in the shower and the switched was flipped.  I started having contractions.  By the time I was getting out of the shower, I was moaning in pain.  I joke now that the neighbors likely thought something crazy was happening at our house because I was being so loud!  Andy got home and I was putting on my makeup.  I asked him to grab the additional things to put in our hospital bag, just in case we ended up getting admitted to the hospital.  (I still wasn't convinced I was in labor).  However, the closer that we got to the hospital, the stronger my contractions got.  I was sure I was dying!!

PS.  I took a picture with our board for the week that my friend Jaime made this weekend.  Turns out it didn't go to waste, but should've read something more like BABY COMING SOON!

We got checked in and I got checked by the nurse.  Yes, I was in labor and dilated to a three.  As she checked me in and got my history, my contractions continued to get closer together and much stronger still.  She informed me that we would be staying  (AND YES AGAIN, HAVING A BABY TODAY!!!!!).  As exciting as this news was to me, I was in so much pain I wasn't even thinking about that.  I was thinking holy shit, this hurts.  I was writhing in pain with each contraction and even screamed into the speaker at the side of the bed (which wasn't on).

I finally got moved from the evaluation side of labor and delivery and the actual labor room.  It felt like forever, but this part sorta became a blur.  I was waiting patiently for the epidural and did get finally get it!  It was sweet, sweet relief.  After that, I was just laying and talking with hubs and my Mama, who was also there during delivery.  It felt like such a short time later I was being checked again and my cervix was at an eight!  It was SO quick!  I have no idea what time it actually was, but we were checked in at L&D around 9 and by 12 the nurses were prepping me to push!

I started pushing around 12 and wasn't making a ton of progress, although eventually Andy and my mom were able to see baby's head, and then more and more of it!  My mom stayed in with us to take photos for our family later.  Although the nurse said I was pushing exactly how I should be, things weren't moving on that quickly.  My doctor came in around 2 something and helped move things along and around down there.  And you know what?  Just a few minutes later, mid-push session, Andy told me to look down.  And you know what else?  My perfect little boy was right there, taking his first breaths.

I was immediately overwhelmed with emotion!  I am again as I write this post.  They cleaned him up and put him on my chest to love on.  They then explained that they wanted to put him under the warming light for just a few minutes to monitor his breathing.  Since he was early term, they expressed that there could be a chance that he would have breathing complications so extra nurses came to examine him.  He ended up going to the nursery for additional monitoring.  It seemed like an eternity but Andy said it couldn't have been more than 30 minutes.  I was panicking and telling him to go find our baby.  They quickly brought him back to us and we got to breastfeed for the first time together.  He stayed with us the rest of the night until we sent him to the nursery so we could both rest.

Over the next two days, we had lots of visitors and love sent our direction, which I cannot express my gratitude for.  This beautiful little being has captured my entire heart and I love him so very much!  I love all of the little sounds that he makes and his crazy stares.  He's absolute perfection.

I cannot wait to help continue writing the story of his life, and welcome you all along for the journey!

Thank you again for all of the love, kind words, gifts, and thoughts sent our way!  Xoxoxo

36 Weeks/Good News/Maternity Pics

For the record, I did my own chalkboard this weekend.  It's exciting to me that I may only have a few more chalkboards left before M's arrival!

How far along? 36 weeks 1 day
Total weight gain/loss: Around 17 pounds total according to the scale last week.
Baby is the size of a/an: A crenshaw melon??  Anyone heard of this before?  I joke that it's the ghetto melon :)
Maternity clothes? Yes, but I'm pretty much tired of putting on anything except for sweatpants and a t-shirt most days.
Stretch marks? So far no, but I do have this little number on the underside of my tummy that is either a stretch mark or a scratch that won't heal.  I'm thinking the former?
Sleep: Sleep this week continues to be good for the most part!  Sad to think I need to start weaning myself off using my earplugs because soon I won't be able to...
Best moment this week: Getting great news from the doctor at our appointment!  My body has already started to prep for labor and I am officially 2 cm dilated and 50% effaced AND my mucus plug is gone.  (Sorry if that's TMI for you!)  Currently experiencing some mild contractions as I type, so hoping to continue to get good news this week when we visit!  Also great was taking maternity pictures this weekend!! :)
Have you told family and friends: Yes!
Miss Anything? Peeing without having to pee again 10 minutes later.
Movement: All the time!  He even woke me up again the other night moving around.  I was seriously  worried something was wrong when he woke me up because he was moving so much!
Food cravings: Um, not really anything.  Chipotle, though, ALWAYS sounds good.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing this week that I can put my finger on, but I have had a couple of rounds of nausea that I can't tell what the cause was!
Have you started to show yet: Yes!
Gender: BOY!
Labor Signs: Clearly I'm having contractions at least at some point thus far...
Belly Button in or out? In!  It's not going anywhere.
Wedding rings on or off? Still off, and not coming back anytime soon.
Weekly Wisdom: I don't have any wisdom this week because I'm too busy kicking ass at work to do anything else.
Looking forward to: Doctor appointment this Friday, and meeting sweet baby M very soon!

As mentioned above, we did our maternity pictures this weekend!  Below are some of my favorites:

And our hospital bag is packed and ready in case M decides to make his arrival early.  We are so excited and ready to meet you, sweet little man!

35 weeks!

Once again, work is crazytown, but as promised, here is the weekly blog!

This week's chalkboard courtesy of my good friend Kate Nixon who claims to be creative but laughed when I asked her to chalkboard for me this week :)

How far along? 35 weeks 3 days
Total weight gain/loss: Um.  Yikes.  Last week I weighed in after lunch and it was around the 20 lb mark BUT I'm convinced that was because it was just after I had eaten lunch.  Guess we will see for sure tomorrow at our doctor appointment!
Baby is the size of a/an: Honeydew melon (which sounds delicious!!)
Maternity clothes? Yes, although really I just want to wear sweatpants every day.  Even cute maternity clothes are beyond me at this point.
Stretch marks? None yet!  But I'm sure the last month will be the hardest on my skin so we will see!
Sleep: Sleep this week is still good!  Monday night instead of blogging, I got home late and went to bed early (and slept nearly 12 hours!).  The worst part of sleep this week is my allergies and waking up to my nose-whistle, so I can handle that!
Best moment this week: Getting baby boy's clothes officially organized and ready for his arrival!  Hubs helped with this and I am sooooo proud of the way his room looks now!
Have you told family and friends: Yes!
Miss Anything? Angry orchard :) It's that time of year and it sounds SO delicious.  Plain apple cider just isn't the same.
Movement: All the time!  My favorite thing is just to watch my tummy move around while he moves, or to try and guess which part is which!
Food cravings: Nothing this week!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing this week!
Have you started to show yet: Yes!
Gender: BOY!
Labor Signs: Not really anything this week!  It's been an easy week.
Belly Button in or out? Still in!  I guess it's not going anywhere.  Womp.
Wedding rings on or off? Off.  I don't even try anymore.
Weekly Wisdom: Sleep now!
Looking forward to: Doctor appointment tomorrow!  (Although I'm not looking forward to the strep B test!)

Here's a picture of M's closet and all his sweet little clothes.  Andy helped organize it and it looks so perfect!  (Later this documentation will be proof that it ever looked this good)

This weekend we also nested a bit in the garage and organized it.  Yes, it's weird, but here's a picture of our beautifully organized garage!  It's also never this pretty so it deserves a spot on the blog!

This week Frank doesn't seem to want to leave my side.  It's like he knows the time will be here soon!  Anyway, I love his sweet little face and don't mind him being close. :)

32 days left (or 1 month 1 day...whoa)...

34 weeks/weekly favorites

How far along? 34 weeks, day 3
Total weight gain/loss: I dunno, not much more than last week although someone told me I look like I'm going to explode today...so either I need to stop eating or I need to cut that bitch.
Baby is the size of a/an: Canteloupe, although just a few weeks ago he was the size of a pineapple.  I'm starting to think that maybe those things aren't super accurate.  :)
Maternity clothes? Yes, although I guess I'm a giant so I'm afraid of what it will be like after baby is born.
Stretch marks? Still no!  I continue to use lotion every day and drink a lot of water so I think that helps!  Also I think my mama said she didn't get them with me, so hoping my skin will hold up!
Sleep: Sleep this week has been good.  Oh, except my fan stopped working last week which really sucks!  And of course, it's the time of year that stores no longer carry fans.  Ugh!
Best moment this week: Taking baby boy to his first concert this weekend.  I think he loves Amos Lee as much as we do :) (pictures below)  And getting our mamaroo put together last week!
Have you told family and friends: Yes!
Miss Anything? My pre baby body, Not being talked to like an idiot, my regular clothes, sleeping and turning over without making like a 5-point turn in my bed, and of course, Angry Orchard.
Movement: All the time!  Baby M is a busy little monster in there :)
Food cravings: Taco soup, potato soup, someone else cooking for me.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing this week!! :)
Have you started to show yet: Yes!
Gender: BOY!
Labor Signs: General crampyness, nothing crazy.
Belly Button in or out? In for now.  See the picture below :)
Wedding rings on or off? Off.  I miss it.
Weekly Wisdom: I need to not stress so much and just breathe.
Looking forward to: hearing my sweet little love's heartbeat at our doctor appointment tomorrow.  It's the last of our every-two-week appointments!

Here's a picture of some of my favorite things from this week, including our MamaRoo, a new gift for baby M we received in the mail from a family friend, and M's first concert!

Also this belly button is on its last leg of being an innie... :)

Every please send some love and a prayer my mama's way.  She put down her best friend today (her 16.5 year old poodle/bischon mix)after 16 years of love and could use some extra love in her direction.

Ouchie.

Welcome!
This week's board courtesy of my lovely husband!  He completed this for me and said he'll never do another.  He did a great job though, so maybe I can convince him again later?

How far along? 33 weeks 1 day
Total weight gain/loss: Around 15 pounds total gained I think?  Not bad.
Baby is the size of a/an: Durian fruit??  Raise your hand if you've had one of those?  No?  Noone?  Exactly.
Maternity clothes? Yes!  I'm done with jeans I think until M gets here.  Even though I'm still fitting in to my pre pregnancy jeans, the top of the zipper on my belly is just NOT pleasant!
Stretch marks? Still no.  I truly feel lucky that this one's a no.
Sleep: Sleep this week is no bueno.  My hips are hurting after lying on one side too long which totally sucks.  Last night right before bed my sciatic nerve started hurting.  Not sure if I overdid the cleaning yesterday or what, but it hurts ALL OF THE TIME and literally makes me rethink every movement.  It hurts when I sleep, lay down, sit, walk, you name it.  Never again will I take for granted being able to walk or stand without pain.  I'm open to help.
Best moment this week: Both a blessing and a curse, but being able to hear baby M's heartbeat for a long period of time at the hospital and hearing his thumps and movements.  More below.
Have you told family and friends: Yes!
Miss Anything? Being able to sleep comfortably.  At all.  Period.
Movement: Daily.  Feels like a little lizard or loch ness monster moving around in there sometimes with the nature of his movements.
Food cravings: Pumpkin bread, Caramel apple spice from starbucks, and all things fall.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing this week!
Have you started to show yet: Yes!
Gender: BOY!
Labor Signs: Nothing that I really noticed. Doc says I may be having contractions which are normal at this point.  Starting to get a little weirded out about being "checked" for progress...ew.
Belly Button in or out? Still in!!  I secretly want it to pop.  Go figure.  See picture below.
Wedding rings on or off? Still off  (double womp).  I tried it on this morning just to make sure and it was SO not happening.
Weekly Wisdom: If you have a question or a scare, call your doctor.  Seriously.
Looking forward to: Roots N Blues this weekend with some of my favorites!

Andy bought these for M.  I was tempted to hide them.  Instead, I washed them and they are ready for use (or to be thrown away, haha).  Andy says we should let the baby choose which team he wants to support.  Yes, I am fully aware that the Pack is 1-2 and the Eagles are 3-0.  I don't care.  I still think my boy's Packers gear is much cuter.  You decide.

Saturday morning I was lazy and watched TV in bed.  M moved around like crazy and it was wonderful.  Saturday afternoon pre-Mizzou game, I cleaned like a crazy and exhausted myself.  Around 3:00 I sat down, had some food and water, and watched the Mizzou game with Andy.  And no baby movement.  I was exhausted, so I laid on my side thinking he would move and ended up taking a nap.  I flipped around a couple of times and realized I still hadn't felt him move.  I asked Andy to get me a glass of VERY cold water, because usually this helps get M moving.  This time, however; no luck.  I even laid down on the floor and in my bed and still felt nothing.  Of course at that point I was in FULL-ON FREAK OUT MODE.  I called the hospital and they asked me to come in.  We drove there and I completely lost my shit during the drive.  Andy, however, was extremely supportive and wonderful.  I couldn't ask for more.  He even grabbed my hand to hold while I was driving.  We got there and answered 1500 questions and they hooked me up to fetal heart rate and movement monitors.  Baby's heart rate was steady and still in the 130s.  He was slow to start but eventually started moving...and I was relieved.  In another breath of relief, my doctor was even the on-call doctor at the hospital!  He said we made the right choice by coming to the hospital and that baby's heart rate and movements continue to look happy and healthy.  I am so incredibly relieved.  And since then?  He's been moving like crazy.  I blame my crazy cleaning for the scare.

Also as promised, a picture of my belly button.  It's pushing out so much...perhaps will pop in the future?!

Oh and THIS came today.  No after pictures just yet because it's being put together as we speak.  Guess that gives everyone something to look forward to next week!  I am so excited for it to be here so we can test it out and learn it.  I only wish there was a baby I could put in there to test it out!  :)

32 weeks

Welcome, friends!

This week has been quite busy with work, my aunt Brenda visiting, and completing our childbirth class! My Aunt brought baby M some bath toys she bought from the Zoo in San Fran near where she lives.  Here she is testing them out in our pool, which sadly, is ready to be closed for the year:

Saturday we completed our childbirth class and sold our old swing.  Can I just say that the childbirth class didn't really ease my fears about child birthing.  Rather, I'm even more worried and stressed about it than I ever was before.  Once I heard the words "RING OF FIRE" uttered, I was done.  Even so...eyes on the prize so I'll try and put labor at the back of my mind for now.  Silver lining to that day?  I came home to these beauties blooming by our front door and a Mizzou win! :)

Sunday we were lazy and watched football and I cooked a bit.  I made a spicy chili that was super relish and an apple crisp.  I've actually never made an apple crisp before, but Andy liked so I guess I'll count it as a win!  I also got to see the last few minutes of my Packers win, which was a major plus!  I guess we will be watching Andy's Eagles play (and maybe lose?) tonight during MNF. :)

Also yesterday, Andy and I finally agreed on a hat for M to wear during newborn pictures/wearing home.  I found this combination and I absolutely love it!  I've been looking for some time but couldn't find something that really struck me.  When I ran across this yesterday, I knew I had to order it.  Andy also ordered some Eagles booties and beanies this week for M as well.  Perhaps I should hide those when they come in? :)

And now for the weekly update...

This week's board courtesy of my Aunt Brenda.

How far along? 32 weeks 1 day
Total weight gain/loss: Around 12 lbs gained total so far I think.
Baby is the size of a/an: Squash.  He's also almost 4 pounds in there and gaining an ounce daily/around a half pound a week!  Whoa!
Maternity clothes? Yes!  Along with a mix of my regular stuff--my friend was surprised I'm still wearing my regular jeans some and my regular leggings.
Stretch marks? Still none!  Although some days, my tummy is pretty tight.  Other days it's not so bad.  I can't believe I have at least another 55 days of growing tummy left!
Sleep: Sleep this week has again been pretty good and I cannot get enough!  I'm trying to allow myself to get plenty of sleep since I know it will be slim after M gets here!
Best moment this week: Childbirth class we had this weekend?  Although I also chalk that up to scary.  I also enjoyed for the first time ever baby moving around so much and so intensely while I was sleeping that he woke me up!  What a strange feeling :)
Have you told family and friends: Yes!
Miss Anything? All things alcohol, although I'm scared for what my tolerance will be like once baby gets here!
Movement: Daily, although it's more of a squirm than a thump now.   I love when I'm protesting work and he squirms around in protest as well.
Food cravings: Spicy things (continued).  This week I made spicy chili and have been eating spicy trail mix like it's going out of style.
Anything making you queasy or sick: That damn gag reflex from teeth brushing/tongue brushing, ugh.
Have you started to show yet: Yes!
Gender: BOY!
Labor Signs: Crampyness again this week.  Doctor asked me to push fluids which helped.
Belly Button in or out? Still in!  It's shallow though.  My navel piercing that was once even with my belly button is now way above where it used to be.  Hello, stretchy skin.
Wedding rings on or off? Off.  Womp.  I considered wearing it on my necklace with the M on it that Andy got me, but for now just leaving it safely at home.
Weekly Wisdom: Again this week my blood sugar dropped while I was working and I thought I was going to die.  I think I need to start carrying a bag or something with snacks and extra water so I don't get hungry/angry/tired/cranky/sweaty because of low blood sugar.  Especially at court because that sucks.
Looking forward to: Doctor appointment this Thursday, Getting our MamaRoo in soon...

I hope your week has gone as quickly as ours has!  Until next time; Xoxo

9 weeks left...

Welcome, friends!  I'll keep things short and sweet because my Aunt Brenda is here visiting this week.  PS-this week's board courtesy of Brenda :)

How far along? 31 weeks 1 day
Total weight gain/loss: Up a pound or or two since my last appointment.  Is it really possible that Baby M is gaining an ounce a day or a half pound per week?!  JEEZ.
Baby is the size of a/an: Pineapple!
Maternity clothes? Yes. Along with whatever the H I want as long as it feels comfortable.
Stretch marks? Still none!  Which totally surprises me.  I've still been drinking lots of water though so hopefully that's helping.
Sleep: Sleep this week has been pretty good!  I think the turn of the weather is making my body very happy :)
Best moment this week: Hard choice, but I think my favorite moment this week would be when we went to the doctor and heard M's heartbeat again and the doctor helped us identify which little parts were which in my tummy!  Or the return of fall temperatures to Missouri :)
Have you told family and friends: Yes!
Miss Anything? Beer.  Because FOOTBALL and because the Pack lost this week (womp womp)
Movement: Daily, although it's more of a squirm than a thump now.
Food cravings: Spicy things.  I found a spicy trail mix for $3.99 at Gerbes and it's also way tasty (but is no Tex Mex trail mix from Target)
Anything making you queasy or sick: None this week!
Have you started to show yet: Yes!
Gender: BOY!
Labor Signs: Some crampyness and back pain on Saturday, but otherwise good!
Belly Button in or out? Still in!!  But when I try to flex my stomach muscles or sit up, my belly button does this weird thing where it tries to raise out of the hole?  It's really weird.  I'll have to take a picture of it
Wedding rings on or off? Off.  Womp.
Weekly Wisdom: Eat food often.  Legit today I was driving home from the grocery store and it just hit me and then I was sweaty, shaky, and lightheaded.  So I came inside and shut the blinds and ate some trail mix and drank some water.  And five minutes later, I was fine.
Looking forward to: Starting the hospital bag and doing the childbirth class.

HOLY SHIT.  9 weeks left?!  And that baby is coming out of WHERE?!

And for fun, here's a picture from today of Baby M on one side of my tummy.  He loves the right side (left side in that picture) and the angled part that you see is his little butt being pushed out against my side! The other side he doesn't love so much.  Such a funny little man already.

We have decided to sell our swing and buy a MamaRoo, so if you or anyone you know wants a baby swing that is in excellent condition, runs on batteries and power, and swings three different ways, let me know.  I'd like to get $50 out of it (it retails for $139).  Here's a picture of it!  It actually is a terrible picture, but wanted to get the word out.  If you're interested, let me know and I can take a better picture.

And finally, I found one of these guys in my bed this week.  Who knows what kind it is?  I'll give you a dollar.

Aaaand I'm done.  Until next time...Xoxo
